Winners of 2013 EURETINA Science & Medicine Innovation Awards highlight the progress of genetic technologies towards the clinic

Delegates to the 13th EURETINA Congress, held in Hamburg, Germany from Sept 26-29th, heard exciting developments across a range of innovative technologies short-listed for this year’s EURETINA Science & Medicine Innovation Awards. The final award winners, Dr. Sonja Kleinlogel (Switzerland) in first place, and Dr. Deniz Dalkara (France) in second place, focused their efforts respectively, on optogenetic tools for retinal gene therapy and novel adeno-associated viral (AAV) delivery vehicles capable of targeting gene delivery to photoreceptor cells when injected in the vitreous.
