Patient reported outcomes mirror visual acuity data for ranibizumab treatment of DME

A new report, published in JAMA Ophthalmology (Oct 2013, Volume 131, Number 10, pp1339-47), claims that evidence from patient reported outcomes mirror previously published visual acuity data, further demonstrating an improvement in patients with vision impairment due to diabetic macular edema (DME). The clinical research was conducted by the RESTORE study group with Dr. Paul Mitchell, MD, PhD, at The University of Sydney, Eye Clinic, Westmead Hospital, New South Wales, Australia acting as corresponding author. The patient reported outcome study follows a 2011 published trial that reported superior visual acuity (VA) outcomes for ranibizumab compared with laser treatment in patients with DME.
